To meet schedules, it is our policy to commit to about 30 hours of work per week.  Then, when the inevitable happens and we get information late, or the schedules on different projects change such that they conflict with each other, we can work 40 or 50 hour weeks and meet the schedules without sacrificing quality.

To avoid problems we have learned that it is necessary to listen to and understand the Client’s concerns, coordinate with the other design disciplines, and then clearly document for the electrical contractor what needs to be done.

Although Mr. Burnside¬† has supervised groups as large as 30 people, he currently keeps the firm small so he can be personally involved in every project¬† This simplifies project management and project control as he does not have to spend time monitoring what other people are doing.   This is how he maintains schedules and avoids problems.
